Obwohl es in Arlington im Staat Virginia liegt, besteht die amerikanische Post darauf, dass Washington, D.C. als Postadresse angegeben wird. Es gibt auch einen Flughafen in der Umgebung, den Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Das Wetter ist gemäßigt mit vier ausgeprägten Jahreszeiten, wobei Herbst und Frühjahr meistens länger dauern als Sommer und Winter. Die Texas & Pacific Railroad, die zu dieser Zeit ihre Strecke zwischen Dallas und Fort Worth baute, beschloss, dazwischen einen Bahnhof zu errichten und wählte Arlington. Die Straßen wurden 1876 gebaut, und der Name Arlington wurde 1877 vom Postamt angenommen. Die Stadt wurde 1884 gegründet.
