In the first episode of the Swordsmith Village Arc, fans were introduced to several new characters, including Tokito, who quickly became a fan favorite. With his striking appearance and a Hashira label, despite looking so young, fans were immediately intrigued by this new addition to the Demon Slayer universe. As the story progresses, we will learn more about Tokito's past, personality, and role he will play in the fight against Muzan and his Demons. But here's what you need to know about him beforehand.

Introduction To Muichiro Tokito

Demon Slayer: Who Is Muichiro Tokito (1)

During the first introduction to Hashiras in episode 22 of the series, it was easy to conclude that Muichiro Tokito was the youngest among them. He is just 14 years old and stands at the height of 5.3 inches. Despite being a child, Muichiro is not someone to be taken lightly as he holds the rank of a Hashira, the most elite soldier of the Demon Slayer Corps.

Muichiro Tokito is a rare gem among the Demon Slayers, a prodigy who has managed to achieve what takes others years to accomplish in mere months. It is said that it takes at least five grueling years of intense training to become a Demon Slayer, but Muichiro's exceptional talent and dedication allowed him to become a Hashira after only two months in the Corps. In fact, only one other Hashira, the mighty Gyomei, has achieved such a feat, but considering the age difference between the two, Muichiro's exceptional abilities are truly awe-inspiring.

Muichiro's personality is a bit hard to understand. As seen in his first introduction in episode 22, while all Hashiras were discussing what they should do with Nezuko, Muichiro was lost in his own dreams, looking at the sky and birds, completely ignorant about the situation. These traits hint that although he fights like his grown-up Hashira comrades, he is still a child at heart.

Unlike Tengen and Rengoku, who were the main protagonists of their respective arcs and were shown to have a sympathetic nature towards others, Muichiro is a bit arrogant and unemotional. While dealing with Kotetsu, he didn't flinch while chiding him, stating that kinds like him were just meant to make swords and were not worthy of his crucial time.

Demon Slayer: Who Is Muichiro Tokito (2)

Demon Slayer feels like a large web connected with countless threads, with people and belongings of the present having a connection with old times. Hanafuda Earings, Demon Slayer Marks, Breathing Forms, and the current Demon Slayers all have an intriguing past. However, Muichiro's past is the most exciting one, as he is a direct descendent of the legendary Demon Slayer, Yoriichi Tsugikuni. Taking that into consideration, Muichiro's unbelievable talent as a swordsman seems reasonable.

Being Yoriichi's descendent also means that he is a relative to Upper-Rank One Demon, Kokushibo. Also, the creator of Hanafuda Earings (Yoriichi and Kokushibo's mother), Akeno Tsugikuni, is related to Muichiro. In a notable incident in the manga, Kokushibo took notice of Muichiro's remarkable abilities and even praised him.

What Breathing Form Does Muichiro Use?

Demon Slayer: Who Is Muichiro Tokito (3)

Muichiro is a user of the Mist Breathing technique, and as of now, he is the only known user of this technique. Mist Breathing is derived from Wind Breathing, which is further derived from Sun Breathing. The technique is known to have only six forms, but Muichiro was able to come up with its own, the seventh form, known as Obscuring Clouds. Mist Breathing might be powerful, but it's quite inferior to many other known techniques, such as Flame Breathing, Thunder Breathing, Water Breathing, Moon Breathing, and Sun Breathing.
