2.
Shadowfiend Raid Build for Discipline Priest
This build is our default recommended build for raiding content. Utilizing the large burst windows of Shadowfiend will provide the largest gain, provided you can force the cooldown to be available at the right times with
Void Summoner. This build goes hand in hand with the
Mindbender variant, and which one you use will heavily depend on what the encounter's damage pattern looks like.
The Blaze of Light points in this build can be flexed into
Heaven's Wrath in scenarios where more cooldown reduction on
Ultimate Penitence provides significant value.
Be sure to make use of the 'Copy Export String' button to importthe build directly into your game!
3.
Mindbender Raid Build for Discipline Priest
This build is the alternative build for raiding content. Utilizing the smaller but more frequent windows of Mindbender will allow you to cover timings that you would not normally be able to handle due to Shadowfiend's longer cooldown. This build goes hand in hand with the
Shadowfiend variant, and which one you use will heavily depend on what the encounter's damage pattern looks like.

Talent Breakdown
In the following section, we will break down the more situational options orchoices to be made within the talent tree. Talent nodes that have value but maynot be good or generic enough to be played in all situations. If a talent nodeis not mentioned, it is due to it either being an instant pick already or toobad to ever take. Please refer to the above-linked talent builds if you areunsure of which category a talent falls into. If you are looking for adescription of all talents/spells, please take a look at our spells page linkedbelow:

Specific Talent Explainations
7.1.
Ultimate Penitence and Heaven's Wrath/Overloaded With Light
Both the spell Ultimate Penitence on its own and the entire package including
Heaven's Wrath and
Overloaded with Light have some uses. While they are currently a bit overshadowed in normal play due to the sheer power and influence of our tier set bonus, they are still useful talents to keep in mind. For just a single talent point, you can gain access to a cooldown that can be slotted into situations where you do not have your pet available. In most cases, you will cast this against enemies for the damage to heal through
Atonement, but especially in mythic plus, it can be utilized as a strong single target option in dire situations. The large personal HP shield can come in clutch as well to allow you to focus on keeping your allies alive during your CD instead of worrying about your own HP as well. You do need to be cautious about effects happening on the ground that can either still kill you if you are over them or things that you will fall into after the channel ends.
Overloaded with Light specifically is mainly a raid-focused talent due to the ability to instantly apply 10
Atonement's on cast. This allows the talent to either allow an accelerated 20 man ramp with Double
Power Word: Radiance into
Ultimate Penitence or the ability to access a 20 many ramp when your Radiance charges are on cooldown via your standard single target ramp up procedure into Ultimate Penitence. This gives these talents significant value when you have a need to force multiple ramps in a short window where you normally wouldnt be able to execute.
7.2.
Benevolence vs Power Word Life
While Benevolence looks like it should be the obvious choice, the answer is not always so simple. When you include overhealing into the calculation for Benevolence, which Power Word: Life will rarely have to deal with, the difference in total contribution between the two talents is quite small. While some people may want to go for Benevolence as a default option, we recommend sticking to Power Word: Life, as the impact this spell can have as a life-saving tool can be far greater than a small hps gain overall.
As always, consider the situation you find yourself in for situations where Power Word: Life may provide little value. If you are struggling with the number of keybinds required to play Discipline Priest, you also have the option of running Benevolence as an easier option.
7.3.
Luminous Barrier
The design intent behind Luminous Barrier is great. It provides an alternative cooldown to Power Word: Barrier on fights that force the raid/group to spread during damage events. The problem is that Luminous Barrier is currently fairly undertuned. As a result, we do not recommend using it in most cases. Feel free to give it a try, but oftentimes, in situations where Power Word: Barrier is low value, simply talenting out of Barrier and into a completely different talent node will provide more value.
8.
PvP Talents (War Mode)
In Dragonflight, there remains the option to go into "War Mode."Enabling War Mode provides the following benefits:
- PvP talents enabled in the outdoor world.
- 10% increase in World Quest rewards at maximum level.
- 10% more experience gained while leveling.
- Earn Conquest Points, which can reward gear every week.
With the benefits of enabling War Mode for PvE content minimal in thisexpansion, it is not recommended to enable the feature. War Mode remains an attractive option for leveling purposes due tothe increased experience gain.

Discipline Priest War Mode Talents
In this section, we will rank the PvP talents best for leveling and doingsolo / small group PvE content. Below is a ranking of Discipline Priest-specificPvP talents. For more information on what is valuable in a competitive PvPsetting instead of open-world focused, please take a look at our PvP guide.
Discipline Priest PvP Guide
8.1.1.
Discipline Priest PvP Talents
Blaze of Light increases the damage of your
Smite and
Penance by 15% while also adding a slow/movespeed increase to Penance. This is a decent DPS increase, making soloing as Discipline easier.
Inner Light and Shadow is a toggleable ability that grants you either10% increased spell damage and
Atonement healing or 15% less Mana coston healing spells. Leaving this on the damage increase portion while levelingwill result in a solid DPS and survivability gain.
Eternal Rest reduces the cooldown of
Shadow Word: Death by 12seconds, giving you access to this powerful spell much more often.
Dark Archangel increases your damage and the damage of allallies with your
Atonement by 15% for 8 seconds. This is great forsmall group world content where giving your group a DPS buff will be moreimpactful than taking a small boost to your own damage via any of the abovethree talents.
Trinity,
Dome of Light,
Purification,
Purified Resolve,
Strength of Soul, and
Ultimate Radiance,
Archangel,
Thoughtsteal,
Cardinal Mending,
Delivered from Evil,
Precognition, and
Catharsis have limited usefulness on PvE content in terms of increasingyour damage in the open-world or healing in a small group setting.
